Firefox browser to end support for Windows XP and Vista
Firefox has announced it will end support of its browsers on older versions of Windows OS. This means that Windows XP and Windows Vista users will stop receiving updates on the browser. Users of the
operating systems will be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) March next year.
How Firefox plans to end support for Windows XP and Vista
From a blog post by Mozilla:
Firefox is one of the few browsers that continues to support Windows XP and Vista, and we expect to continue to provide security updates for users until September 2017. Users do not need to take additional action to receive those updates. In mid-2017, user numbers on Windows XP and Vista will be reassessed and a final support end date will be announced.
Come September 2017, Firefox will end support for the listed older versions of the operating system. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to higher versions to continue enjoying security updates.
It is interesting to note that many cyber cafes around here still have the old Windows versions installed. We hope they upgrade
