Gumtree South Africa will start listing eBay products in 2017

eBay has outlined a plan to integrate its product listings with its classified sites around the world.

Gumtree
eBay plans to integrate search inventory listed on its platform with that of its subsidiaries in other markets, the company announced in a blog post.

eBay began testing the idea on its Gumtree Australia store, so that searches would return listings on both platforms.

The company then announced it would open the eBay inventory to Gumtree in the UK and Kleinanzeigen in Germany by the end of 2016.

It also announced plans to “expose millions of relevant eBay listings” on its classifieds sites around the world within the first half of 2017.

In addition to the UK and Australia, Gumtree operates in Ireland, Singapore, Poland, and South Africa.

“The idea behind this effort was to deliver even more relevant search results to consumers, leading to increased conversion on eBay listings,” said Alessandro Coppo, general manager at eBay classifieds group.

“The responses and engagement from Classifieds buyers with this new experience have been positive.”
