This was the most expensive smartphone of 2016

This was the most expensive smartphone of 2016

A quick caveat: by most expensive, this article is not talking about smartphones that have been pimped up with diamonds or some other precious stone. We are not talking about Vertu kind of devices.
This is not about bling. Copy that? Cool. Read on to find out which was the most expensive smartphone of 2016.

The phone in question sure is not the iPhone or some other well known brand. The most expensive smartphone of 2016 has the following distinctions:

is an Android smartphonehas military-grade security built in

It is that military-grade security that sets this phone apart from the rest. Let’s get into some of the details.

The phone runs Android OS, but has a special secure mode in which all internet connectivity is turned off and all features except voice calls and messages are disabled. That makes sense. The most secure thing you can do is get off the grid. But that isn’t all.

In that secure mode, all calls and SMS are encrypted using military-grade AES-256, FIPS 140-2 key in real-time. Also, in this mode, calls can only be made to another unit of the same model. That makes sense too: both ends have to be secure for all of that encryption to work.

In regular non-secure mode, the phone uses 256-bit AES encryption for some of its chip-to-chip functions.

In addition, the manufacturer provides real-time scanning to detect threats to user privacy. As it is, this may not just be the most expensive smartphone. It just might also be the most secure.

The Unveiling

Say hello to the SIRIN Solarin. Never heard of the brand before? Exactly. You most likely do not move in those circles that top security is considered essential, so that’s nothing to be bothered about.

The Powerful

With all of these security solutions embedded in the Solarin, I bet you are saying to yourself now that it better be a powerful smartphone. It doesn’t disappoint. It is powered by an Octa-core 2.6 GHz Snapdragon 810 chip and 4 GB of RAM. It has a 5.5-inch display, 128 GB of internal storage, and a large 4040 mAh battery with Quick Charge. There is no memory card slot. Again, that is understandable, given how easy it is to compromise a device through that means.

The Price

How much will the SIRIN Solarin set you back by? Price starts from $14,000 and may cost you as much as $20,000.
