Mobile tech innovations we want to see next year

Mobile tech innovations we want to see next year

We want more innovation in our mobile phones and want hype turned into reality. Here are my predictions of hot trends for mobiles on their way in 2017.

Holographic watch

Now that Microsoft's HoloLens has been announced, expect to see more companies taking advantage of this type of technology. Holographic smartwatches like this Cicret will be worn on an arm near yours soon.

Depth-Sensing Camera

Use the depth sensing camera on your tablet to scan an object, or walk around a room. You can then create a 3D virtual environment that will interact with physical objects and bring both worlds together.

Eye tracking

Eye tracking has been around for a while in the VR headset / gaming world and for use in analytics. In 2017 you will see eye tracking used in more ways such as biometric access control, and mobile device control in conjunction with a device such as Amazon Echo.

Flexible screens

Large flexible LED screens are available to hire or buy now. Although currently showroom size, technology enhancements mean that soon we will have this technology in our pockets.

AI Chatbots

From asking for recipes to chatting with a dog, chatbots like Microsoft Zo, Cortana and Siri form an emotional bond with consumers. You will be chatting more and more with intelligent chatbots to streamline your life in 2017.

External display

If you want a fold up portable projector to show your mobile videos to your friends, then the SPUD is the device for you. The Spontaneous Pop Up Displaygives you 24 inches of projection. Expect to see a lot more of these around in 2017.

Unbreakable Phones

Although we dream of our iPhone being unbreakable, sadly this feature is a long way off for consumers. Fortunately waterproof, dustproof, shockproof phones are already here. If you need long lasting tough phone functionality over style and looks then search for a rugged phone in 2017.

Wireless Charging

Wireless charging will evolve beyond smartphonesto charge any Wi-Fi enabled device. Those charging cables will soon become obsolete.
