Replacing a lost AirPod will cost you $69

Replacing a lost AirPod will cost you $69

That'll be $69 a piece, thank you.

When Apple first introduced its wireless earbuds, the AirPods, the internet was swarmed with jokesabout losing them.

Yes, they do come with a handy portable charger case, and yes, Tim Cook claims they don't slip out of your ear very easily, but there will still inevitably be a number of people who will one day rummage through their pocket to find they've lost one or both earbuds.

Apple is aware of this, so it has a plan for this eventuality. If you lose one AirPod, or a charging case, you can get a new one for $69.

The info comes from an updated Apple support document for the iPhone, first noticed by AppleInsider.

"If your AirPods or charging case get damaged accidentally, you can pay an out-of-warranty fee. And if you lose an AirPod or your charging case, we can replace your lost item for a fee," the document says.

The document also lists the price for battery service on the AirPods: $49 for each earbud or the case if they're still covered by warranty, and $69 if they're out-of-warranty.

The AirPods, which are currently available onlineand might be coming to Apple retail stores on Dec. 19, retail for $159. We'll leave it to you to decide whether Apple's price of
$69 for one lost AirPod is a fair deal or not.
